Abstract

The high resolution spectra of che optically forbidden lowest lying singlet state of the caged molecule triethylenediamine is reported. The transition is studied in the gas phase Using both multiphoton ion-0069czation and two-photon excitation techniques, coupled with polarization measurements. The structure of this excited state will be analyzed in terms of a cage-twisting and a cage-squashing mode.
