Abstract

Complexes of rare gases with $CS_{2}$ and of rare gases, nitrogen, and carbon monoxide with $SO_{2}$ in molecular beams have been studied by diode laser spectroscopy. The $SO_{2}$ monomer $v_{3}$ stretching region near $1362 cm^{-1}$ was exploited to give vibration-rotation spectra of Ne, Ar, $N_{2}$ and CO bound to $SO_{2}$. Similarly, the asymmetric stretch of $CS_{2}$ in complexes with Ne, Ar, Kr, and Xe was utilized to observe vibration-rotation spectra near $1535 cm^{-1}$. Rotational constants and vibrational band origin shifts were determined for these complexes. Some pure rotational spectroscopy has also been done, and is currently in progress, to supplement this data. The structures of the complexes and comparison of the results with model potentials will be discussed.""
