Abstract

Complexes of rare gases with CS2 and of rare gases, nitrogen, and carbon monoxide with SO2 in molecular beams have been studied by diode laser spectroscopy. The SO2 monomer v3 stretching region near 1362cm−1 was exploited to give vibration-rotation spectra of Ne, Ar, N2 and CO bound to SO2. Similarly, the asymmetric stretch of CS2 in complexes with Ne, Ar, Kr, and Xe was utilized to observe vibration-rotation spectra near 1535cm−1. Rotational constants and vibrational band origin shifts were determined for these complexes. Some pure rotational spectroscopy has also been done, and is currently in progress, to supplement this data. The structures of the complexes and comparison of the results with model potentials will be discussed.""
