Abstract

“The pure rotational Raman spectrum of ethylene has been photographed in the 2nd order of a 21-foot grating. The analysis has been carried out on the basis of the 11 lowest τ levels although lines due to transitions in higher τ levels have also been observed. Corrections due to centrifugal distortion have been applied and the following rotational constants obtained: {A}{o}=4.828\pm .015 { cm }^{-1} {B}{o}=1.0012\pm .0015 { cm }^{-1},{and} {C}_{o}=.8282\pm .0005 { cm }^{-1}”
