Knowledge Bank

The infrared spectrum of beryllium chloride vapor has been measured from 2000 to $200cm-1$. The vibrations of the linear triatomic molecule $BeCl2$ are assigned as $v3=1113$ $cm-1$ and $v2=484$ $cm-1$. Several vibrations of the polymeric species present in the vapor in equilibrium with the liquid have been measured.
