Abstract

The theory for the effects of vibration-rotation interaction on individual line intensities developed previously for $^{1}\Sigma$-state diatomic $molecules^{1}$ is extended to II-state diatomics. The analysis is first carried out within the framework of Hund’s Case (a) coupling. Modifications arising from angular momentum uncoupling (coupling intermediate between Hund’s Cases (a) and (b)) are discussed with emphasis on satellite line intensities. Specific application of the theoretical results is made to NO, the present results being compared with previous theoretical treatments and existing experimental data for individual lines as well as band intensities.
