Abstract

The rotational spectrum of methyl ethyl nitrosamine has been observed with a Hewlett-Packard spectrometer between 18-40 GHz. A-type transitions of one conformer have been assigned yielding the preliminary rotational constants A=6864.7(1.8)MHz,B=2412.935(.025)MHz and C=2039.874(.019) MHz. These rotational constants are consistent with the conformation shown. Molecular mechanics calculations suggest that another conformer with the NO group rotated 180 degrees has appromimately equal energy. This model is very asymmetric and has not yet been assigned.
