Knowledge Bank

The Fourier Transform Spectrometer at the McMath complex at Kitt Peak National Observatory has been used to obtain high resolution $(2.5\cdot 10-3cm-1)$ spectra of the $\nu 2$ and $\nu 4$ bands of silane $(SiH4)$. A preliminary linelist along with line strengths will be presented. Silane has recently been detected in an astronomical source, and an application of the laboratory data involving the calculation of a synthetic astronomical spectrum will also be presented.
