Abstract

Resonance Raman scattering has been observed in $Br_{2}, I_{2}, BrCl, ICl$ and IBr gas, with excitation energy above the convergence limit of the $^{3}\Pi^{+}_{0} \rightarrow ^{1}\Sigma^{+}$ transition of these molecules. The argon ion laser lines use for excitation were those at 5145, 5017, 4965, 4880, and $4765{\AA}$. Overtone sequences up to the 10th harmonic were recorded. The difference between resonance Raman effect and resonance fluorescence (observed with excitation energy below the covergence limit in $Cl_{2}, Br_{2}$ and $I_{2}$) will be discussed in some detail.
