Abstract

Measurements of transmittance of several isolated lines within the 15 $\mu m$ band of $CO_{2}$ were made using an infrared tunable diode laser as the radiation source. The overall spectral resolution of this system combined with the measurement procedures resulted in a spectral resolution of about $1\times 10^{-4}$ $cm^{-1}$. Line widths and strengths were determined from measurements on pure $CO_{2}$ and a 320ppmv $CO_{2}/N_{2}$ mixture over a path length of 1-meter, a temperature range of $200^\circ K$ to $300^\circ K$ and a pressure range from the Doppler to the Voigt regimes. These are compared with previous results from similar experimental $techniques,^{1,2}$ calculated values of $widths,^{3}$ and with calculations of $strengths^{4,5}$ based on other experimental measurements.
