Abstract
On October 1 through November 13, 1979, a simultaneous comparison was made of four geodetic Doppler satellite receivers. These were a Canadian Marconi Co. CMA-751, two JMR-1A's, and a Magnavox MX-1502. A description of the comparison test itself is given, including the observing strategy and procedures used in observing, and the actual operational performance and reliability of each receiver. The reduction of the data obtained from each receiver is described including the reformatting of data, and conversion (to IBM Fortran) and use of a new version of the GEODOP program system. Results are given concerning the instrument tracking statistics, the estimated observational precision, the accuracy of chord measurements by pairs of instruments, and the drift of the instrument frequency standards. Recommendations are presented for the design of future instrument and program comparisons, and further use of the data obtained.
