Abstract

Polarized Raman and reflectance IR studies will be reported for ammonium perchlorate. The results have been treated by factor group analysis. The molecular ν2(E) mode for NH4+, not previously reported for NH4ClO4, has been located (although of weak intensity) at 1680cm−1; this is a typical value observed for other ammonium salts. Temperature effects on the optical lattice modes observed in the Raman spectra will be discussed and compared with results reported previously in the literature.
