Abstract

Long carbon chain molecules of the type HCnN with n=1,3,5,……… have been detected in essentially there categories of molecular clouds: in cold dark clouds, in molecular clouds associated with ionized hydrogen (H+) regions, and in the molecule rich atmospheres of late type stars. We have carried out observations with the 100-m radiotelescope of HCnN (n = 3,5,7) and detected these molecules in various interstellar sources. These new results will be presented and a probable interstellar formation mechanism will be discussed, taking into account the interstellar condition and the results of various recent laboratory investigations.
