Abstract

Infrared studies have been made of $^{12}CO_{2} - ^{13}CO_{2}$ mixed crystals over a wide range of concentration. The absorption frequencies of the $^{12}C^{18}O^{16}O$ and $^{13}C^{18}O^{16}O$ species resulting from naturally occurring $^{18}O$, and the shapes of the $^{12}C^{16}O_{2}$ and $^{13}C^{16}O_{2}$ bands, show definite dependence on the $^{12}CO_{2}: ^{13}CO_{2}$ concentration ratio. The quantitative effects of concentration on band shapes and positions will be presented and discussed.
