Abstract

Rotational relaxation has been studied in the excited vibrational state of optically pumped 13CH3F by means of millimeterwave spectroscopy. The excitation is provided by a Q-switched CO2 laser whose pulse width is less than 1 μsec. We have previously reported the results of a cw study1 of this system in which a rate equation model was used to calculate collisional transition probabilities. The results of these studies will be compared.
