Abstract

Rotational relaxation has been studied in the excited vibrational state of optically pumped $^{13}CH_{3} F$ by means of millimeterwave spectroscopy. The excitation is provided by a Q-switched $CO_{2}$ laser whose pulse width is less than 1 $\mu \sec$. We have previously reported the results of a cw $study^{1}$ of this system in which a rate equation model was used to calculate collisional transition probabilities. The results of these studies will be compared.
