Abstract

Acetic acid cooled in a free jet expansion photodissociates following n excitation at 218 nm. The nascent internal energy distribution of the OH X2II product is determined by laser fluorescence excitation. These results will be used to gain insight into the photochemical details of this simple acid. A comparison to related experiments on jet-cooled formic acid will also be presented.
