Abstract

The millimeter wave measurements of the $^{R}Q_{0}$-branch of the rotational spectrum of disulfane yielded the differences between the rotational constants C-B and $[A-(B+C)/2.]^{1}$ The dihedral angle of the molecule could be determined from these values, but the other molecular parameters could only be estimated. In order to simplify the assignment of the remaining lines of the rather complex millimeter wave spectrum by providing an accurate structure, the electron diffraction of gaseous $H_{2}S_{2}$ was undertaken. The results of the electron diffraction measurements and the millimeter wave data together yield the following molecular parameters for $H_{2}S_{2}$: $\begin{array}{ll}r(S-H)=1.345 {\AA}&\angle(HSS)=91 ^{\circ}45^{\prime}\\r(S-S)=2.055 {\AA}&\Theta(dihedral)=90^{\circ} 36^{\prime}.\end{array}$
