Abstract

The infrared spectra of mixed polycrystalline HCl-DCl, HBr-DBr, and HCN-DCN have been studied in the librational mode region. In each case, the observed bands are of the one-mode type, i.e., the observed spectra are similar to those of the pure crystals except that the band maxima occur at frequencies intermediate between those of pure HX and DX. The absolute intensities of the internal modes in the mixed crystals have also been determined. The intensities show no dependence on relative isotopic concentrations.
