Abstract

The Fourier transform spectra of ammonia, 14NH3, have been measured in the 2-3 im region with 0.005cm−1 resolution. The ν1,ν3,2ν4,ν1+ν2+ν3, and ν2+2ν4 bands have been assigned and analyzed. Among them, the ν2+ν2 bands have been assigned for the first time. The band origins for the ν2+2ν4 symmetrical and antisymmetrical parallel bands are 4115.62cm−1 and 4173.25cm−1 respectively. These band origins differ from the calculated values (1). The band origins for the symmetrical antisymmetrical perpendicular bands are also found at 4135.94cm−1 and 4193.14cm−1 respectively.
