Abstract

The Raman line shapes of the $\nu_{1}(A_{1})$ C-H stretching fundamental have been measured as a function of pressure and temperature in $CHF_{3}$ within the density range of 0.94 to $1.44\;g/cm^{3}$ and the temperature range from $273^{\circ}\,K$ to $373^{\circ}\,K$ . The reorientational and vibrational relaxation times, the corresponding correlation functions, are calculated and interpreted in terms of current theoretical models. The relative VV and VH peak shifts are of particular interest.
