Abstract

The Raman spectra of fused AlCl3NaCl, AlBr3NaBr1 and ALI3NaI systems have been recorded at various mole ratios. The nature of the molecular species present in the region 50-50 mole percent Alx3NaX to pure Al2X6 has been investigated. In particular, Raman lines characteristic of the species AlX4 and Al2X7 have been observed. This research was sponsored by the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission under contract with Union Carhide Cotoration and under Contract AT-(10-1)-3518.
