Abstract
The $\nu_{9}$ band of ethane has been studied extensively and line positions and room temperature intensities are well characterized. In this paper we present temperature dependent intensity data on $\nu_{9}$ as well as the torsional hot band $\nu_{9}+\nu_{4}-\nu_{4}$. .This work is concentrated in wavelength regions where $\nu_{9}$ of ethane is observable using $CO_{2}$ laser heterodyne techniques where the hot band intensities are of great interest to astronomers.
