Abstract

The $A {^{4}}\Pi-X {^{4}}\Sigma (0,0)$ band of MoN between 5990 and 6350 {\AA} has been studied using intermodulated laser induced fluorescence spectroscopy. MoN was produced by reacting vapourized $MoCl_{5}$ with microwave discharged $N_{2}$ gas in a flow system. The sub-Doppler spectrum obtained was at a resolution of less than 100 MHz. The magnetic hyperfine structure caused by $^{95}Mo$ and $^{97}Mo$ nucleus $(1= 5/2)$ is mostly resolved. The hyperfine linewidths vary with J in the manner expected for spin uncoupling from case $(a_{b})$ to Case $(b_{bj})$ in a high spin multiplicity state.
