Abstract
The infrared spectrum of the $\nu_{1}$ band of trans-Nitrous Acid has been recorded with a high resolution spectrometer. A simultaneous deconvolution and smoothing program were used to enhance the spectral resolution from approximately $0.032\, cm^{-1}$ to $0.013\, cm^{-1}$. The analysis of this OH stretching band indicates that it has an A-type structure. The resulting preliminary constants (in. $cm^{-1}$) are: \begin{eqnarray*} \nu &=& 3590.771 \quad (1)\\ \Delta A &=& 0.01 \; 420 \quad (4)\\ \Delta B &=& 0.000 \; 073 \quad (6)\\ \Delta C &=& 0.000 \; 235 \quad(5) \end{eqnarray*}
