Knowledge Bank

The MCD of $U(BH4)4$ doped into $Hf(BH4)4$ has been measured in the visible and near infrared regions at liquid helium temperatures. Several distinctive A-terms were found to correspond to previously assigned electric dipole origins of $(5f)2$ in a $Td$ site. Their signs and lack of temperature dependence are used to confirm the $E(3H4)$ ground state. The symmetries of several excited states are further confirmed using moment analysis.
