Abstract

Modulated microwave double $r e s o n a n c e 1$ has been employed to obtain rate constants for collisional transfer of rotational energy between specific states of HCN. Using the expression obtained by $G o r d o n, 2$ a computer program has been written to calculate relative intensities and phase shifts for an assumed set of transition rates. Our data have been fit by varying the rate constants in a least squares analysis. The rate constants so obtained satisfactorily reproduce the results of Oka's $e x p e r i m e n t s 3$ on HCN.
