Abstract

First order Stark-effect spectra have been taken at high resolution of the $A^{3}II_{1}-X^{1}\Sigma^{+}$ transition of iodine monochloride at a field of 4kv/cm. Line broadenings or splittings are observed for lines with $J^{\prime}=1,2,3$ in the 18-0 vibrational band. The effect is analyzed to give the electric dipole moment of the $^{2}II_{1}$ state. Vibrational states near the magnetic rotation spectra cut off at 28-0 and up to the dissociation limit are being studied.
