Abstract
Together, the Center for Applied Plant Sciences (CAPS) and the Arabidopsis Biological Resource Center (ABRC) are expanding their efforts to engage students and the community in learning about plants. CAPS' efforts focus on connecting people through team science and raising awareness about the potential plants have to help solve some of the difficult challenges facing humanity. ABRC continues to focus on K-12 education, using plants as a model to teach a variety of science concepts.
Description
IMPACT. 1: ABRC and CAPS support K-12 science education through hands-on programs for students, professional development for teachers, online access to Greening the Classroom modules, and free Arabidopsis seeds for teachers. -- 2. Recognizing the importance of informal education experiences, our Centers are developing new partnerships with community organizations and participating in public programs to raise awareness about the importance of plants. -- 3. CAPS strives to promote team science throughout The Ohio State University and beyond with programs such as the TPS Graduate Program, Functional Genomics Workshops, CAPS Seminar Series and more.
