Abstract
Anne Chasser began working in the Office of Contracts at The Ohio State University in 1976. Chasser and her colleagues were at the forefront of developing and implementing the most efficient systems that would allow the University to make money from its newly registered trademarks. During her time at Ohio State, Chasser wrote journal articles about the work she was doing, which helped other universities that were beginning to register their own trademarks. These articles, along with Chasser’s traveling to many conferences and networking, built her reputation outside of the University and led to her spearheading the organization of the first Big Ten Consortium for university trademark licensing programs. Chasser worked for the University until 1999, when she left to take a position in Washington D.C. as the Commissioner for Trademarks for the United States of America.
