Abstract

The theory of pulsed or modulated resonance fluorescence$^{1,2}$ has been generalized to calculate the time dependence of near-resonant Raman scattering. For a single neat-resonant excited level, cur results agree with recent experiments:$^{3}$ On resonance, the time dependence is the exponential decay of the excited level. Far off resonance, the time dependence follows the excitation pulse. Effects due to the finite bandwidth of the exciting light and excited state degeneracies or near-degeneracies will be discussed.
