Abstract

This is the minutes for the Council on Academic Affairs' meeting on August 22, 2006. E. Kay Halasek and W. Randy Smith (the Chair and Vice Chair, respectively) gave comments regarding relevant updates. Professor W. Randy W. Smith presented the proposal to establish a profession Master's degree in Environment and Natural Resources. Professor Nancy Reynolds presented the proposal to split the Human Dimensions major into two majors: Environmental Policy and Management and Parks, Recreation, and Tourism. Guests Professors Don Eckert and Neil Andrew and Mr. Mark Geise discussed this proposal with the Council. Professor E. Kay Halasek presented the proposal to create a new undergraduate track in Aviation. Professor Chul Lee and Dr. Edward McCaul discussed this proposal with the Council. Kay Halasek and W. Randy Smith led the discussion on the proposals to reconfigure the core curriculum for the Department of Industrial, Interior, and Visual Communication Design which was discussed with guests Professors Carol Gill and Valarie Mockabie, to change prerequisite requirements for the RN-to-BSN Program, to establish admission criteria for students selected to enter the pre-major program in the College of Nursing, to increase minimum cumulative point hour ratio in the School of Allied Medical Professions, to eliminate required free elective hours for bother the BA and BS degrees, to remove Math Placement L, and to remove the rule limiting permitted hours in a single registrar's listing to 80 hours.
