Abstract

The design and characteristics of high current mercury lamps for Raman spectroscopy of gases will be discussed. With the present equipment, rotation-vibration bands can be photographed at a reciprocal linear dispersion of 10.5 cm$^{-1}$ per mm and a practical resolving power of $1 cm^{-1}$. As an example, the analysis of the spectrum of acetylene will be presented.
