Abstract
The absorption spectra of rare gases have been investigated with a 6.65-m vacuum spectrograph in the second order. The expected five ns and nd Rydberg series have been extended significantly for all rare gases except helium. Strong interactions have been observed as perturbations and autoionization; a graphical multichannel quantum defect analysis of the observed levels will be presented.
