Abstract

Single-crystal absorption and excitation spectra of $Re^{4+}$ and $Ir^{4+}$ doped in the distorted-octahedral hosts of $K_{2}SnX_{6}(X=Cl, Br)$ and the pure $K_{2}ReCl_{6}$ at liquid He temperature have been obtained in the near-ir and visible regions. The analysis of these data will be discussed in conjunction with the previously observed $O_{s}{^{4+}}$ in the similar environments.
