The infrared spectra of the $\mathrm{<mrow\; data-mjx-texclass="ORD">1,2</mrow>}$H$\mathrm{<mrow\; data-mjx-texclass="ORD">12,13</mrow>}C$ $\mathrm{<mrow\; data-mjx-texclass="ORD">14,15</mrow>}N$ isotopic species of HCN were measured in argon matrices. The discrepancy in the ratio of the C-H and C-N bond lengths compared to the gas phase, and the size of the solvent shifts of the vibrational frequencies are discussed in terms of various models for the argon- HCN interaction. The relative intensities of the isotopic frequncies in the matrix are compared to those in the gas phase.
