Abstract

The nitric acid absorption spectrum has been recorded between 1.270 and 1.370cm−1 with a very high resolution Fourier transform spectrometer (resolution 3×10−1cm−1). The distillated HNO3 gas was contained at pressures less than 1 torr in a 12 cm length cell coolable over a temperature range 263-288 K. During the analysis of the spectrum the ground state levels calculated with the rotational constants of Maki [1] have proved to be very useful.
