The absorption spectra of methyl amine, methyl amine-$d2$, methyl-$d3$ amine and methyl-$d3$ amine-$d2$ have been measured photoelectrically in the 1050-2500 {\AA} region with a 1-m monochromator having a $1.0\backslash AA$ band-width. Only the first two electronic transitions at 2150 and $1740\backslash AA$ show extensive vibrational structure. The deuterium derivatives have aided in the vibrational analysis of the previously unassigned $1740\backslash AA$ band. The electronic structure of methyl amine will be discussed in relation to that of ammonia and other simple alkyl amines.
