The rotational absorption spectrum of maleic anhydride has been assigned independently in two laboratories. The rotational constants for the ground vibrational state are $A=6842.56\pm .06Mc./sec.,B=2467.72\pm .20$, and $C=1813.64\pm .03$. Study of the spectra of two higher vibrational states is in progress. The permanent dipole moment, $\mu B$, was found to be $3.95\pm .04D$ from measurements of the Stark effect on the $10,1-21,2$ and $11,0-22,1$ transitions.
