Abstract

Techniques for the measurement of infrared reflection absorption spectra of surface species at monolayer and submonolayer concentrations on law-area metal surfaces have been refined. The wavelength range available to the technique has been extended and the sensitivity has been significantly enhanced. This technique has allowed us to investigate the temperature and pressure dependence of CO on Pt(III). Two distinct states, one the linear bonded CO and one a bridge bonded CO, have been observed.
