Abstract
Pat Schwirian describes her career as a faculty member in the College of Nursing. After helping the then-School create a doctoral program and achieve College status in the mid-'80s, Schwirian turned her attention to what was then the new field of Informatics. She became very involved in the field nationally, including her participation in a national publication on the subject, and she also was involved in helping the College transition to the widespread use of computers in teaching. She also discusses her involvement in other outside organizations and in outreach, including teaching elementary-age children during the nation's energy crisis of the late 1970s. Finally, she talks about her interests outside of Nursing.
