Abstract

Oxley Hall is located at 1712 Neil Avenue. This structure was officially named "Oxley Hall" by the Board of Trustees on November 20, 1908. No explanation of why the name was chosen was present in the Board minutes. McCracken reports that the name chosen was President Thompson's middle name and the maiden name of President Thompson's mother. It is also known as the Women's Dormitory, the Girls' Dormitory, the Woman's Building, the Ladies Dorm, the The Dorm, and is part of what is often called the "south dorms." Includes addenda.
