Abstract

Many new high performance instruments designed for atmospheric measurements and operating on various platforms (balloon, aircraft, satellite) rely heavily on high resolution spectroscopic data relevant to molecular species present in the earth atmosphere. In several cases the quality of the available laboratory data is the limiting factor for taking full advantage of the capabilities of existing or future instruments. However large efforts are devoted in several laboratories to fill the gap. Examples will be presented of this permanent interaction between the remote sensing measurements needs and high resolution infrared studies. Recent balloon and space experiments taking advantage of new spectroscopic line parameters will be described.
