Abstract

These wavelengths for home of the weaker lines in the thorium spectrum between 3853 and 6579 {\AA} conclude our work oil thorium. We are sending copied of the computer print out to those people most concerned with wavelength standards. Publications will follow in due course. The vacuum wavelength values given here have been measured directly against die Krypton 86 standard line using a reflecting echelon interferometer and sealed off hollow cathode discharge lamp operated at 50 milliamps. This work was the extension of that undertaken earlier when we remeasured the lines previously determined interferometrically by Meggers and Stanley. We have now used the grating wavelength values reported by Zalubas to simplify our task of identification and to provide reliable values from which we calculated the whole number orders of interference. The wavelengths quoted here are the mean of three determinations and they give an average difference $\lambda_{LW} - \lambda_{z} \approx \pm 0.004$ {\AA} but we expect that the new interferometric values are the more indurate of the two. We believe they should be accurate to $\pm 0.0005$ {\AA}.
