Abstract

High resolution spectra (0.01cm−1) of HDO have been obtained in the 2400 to 3200cm−1 using a Fourier Transform Spectrometer located at the Kitt Peak National Observatory. Values of the ground state levels were determined from the data and fitted to Watson-type Hamiltonian from which 17 rotational constants were obtained. A comparison was made between the ground state levels obtained in this study and those calculated from the constants given by DeLucia et al.1 Measurements of line strengths of over 500 lines in the two bands were made using the equivalent width method. The line strengths were fitted by the method of least-squares taking into consideration interactions.
