Abstract

The determination of band moments and correlation functions from observed far-infrared spectra of solutions depends on accurate measurements of absorption profiles or the corresponding interferograms. The system which has been developed in these laboratories for recording and processing experimental data will be described. Results obtained on HCl in several nonpolar solvents (hydrocarbons, fluorocarbons, etc.) using an R.I.I.C. Interferometer will be presented and interpreted using the correlation-function approach. Some of the problems encountered in band-shape analyses in this spectral region will be discussed.""
