Abstract

Measurements of line intersities and widths of the ν2 band of NO2 in the 12μm region have been performed using the tunable diode laser spectrometer (resolution 0.0013cm−1) of Ohio State University. With this experimental set up the N2 -broadening coefficients of 7 lines in the R branch have been determined together with their average self-broadening coefficient. Moreover 30 single spin component line intensities have been measured. It is observed that the intensities of the 2 spin components of a given rotational transition are slightly different and the correct theory is used to reproduce this effect. Through a least squares fit of these experimental intensities the following transition moment operator has been obtained: $ COO|\mu^{\prime}{2}|O1O= -0.4272\times10^{-1}\phi{X}+0.403\times10^{-3}(i\phi_{Y},J_{Z}) \ +0.1083\times10^{-3}(\phi_{Z},iJ_{Y})$ and the total band intensity has been found to be Sv(ν2)=0.542×10−3cm−1/moleculecm−2) at 296 K""
