Abstract
Measurements of line intersities and widths of the $\nu_{2}$ band of $NO_{2}$ in the 12$\mu m$ region have been performed using the tunable diode laser spectrometer (resolution $0.0013 cm^{-1}$) of Ohio State University. With this experimental set up the $N_{2}$ -broadening coefficients of 7 lines in the R branch have been determined together with their average self-broadening coefficient. Moreover 30 single spin component line intensities have been measured. It is observed that the intensities of the 2 spin components of a given rotational transition are slightly different and the correct theory is used to reproduce this effect. Through a least squares fit of these experimental intensities the following transition moment operator has been obtained: $ COO|\mu^{\prime}_{2}|O1O= -0.4272\times10^{-1}\phi_{X}+0.403\times10^{-3}(i\phi_{Y},J_{Z}) \\ +0.1083\times10^{-3}(\phi_{Z},iJ_{Y})$ and the total band intensity has been found to be $S_{v}(\nu_{2}) = 0.542 \times10^{-3} \mbox{cm}^{-1}/molecule \mbox{cm}^{-2}$) at 296 K""
