Abstract

Techniques are discussed for measuring infrared intensities for samples isolated in an Argon matrix held on a cold window at 13K in a closed cycle helium cryostat. The measurements have been calibrated by comparison with conventional gas phase studies of the absolute intensities for $H_{2}O$, pyridine, and p-quinone, among other systems. These results are then compared with results form {ab initio} quantum mechanical calculations and analyzed critically.
