Abstract

The microwave spectra of two monosubstituted $^{13}C$ species of bicyclobutane have been analyzed with the following results: for birdgchead $^{13}C, A = 16,934.17 B = 9,298.37 C = 8,316.53$; for apical $^{13}C, A = 17,256.84 B = 9.084.62 C = 8,220.44$, all values in MHz. Combining these results with those reported $earlier^{1}$ it has been possible to obtain the $r_{a}$ structure of the bicyclic ring. This gives $r_{CC}$ (bridgehead) $= 1.496 \pm 0.003 {\AA}$. $r_{cc} (ring) = 1.497 \pm 0.003 {\AA}$. Results obtained from the studies of deuterated species will also be presented and discussed.
