Abstract

The search for the lowest bending rode of $N_{2}O_{2}$. has been intensified due to the need for atmospheric monitoting of all of the species involved in the atmospheric nitrogen oxide chemistry. We have succeeded in recording absorption due to this lowest node in the far infrared region. Both low resolution and high resolution spectra were recorded. So far only the low resolution data has yielded useful information. The band is extremely weak and very broad, and inevitable decomposition leads to strong absorption due to $NH_{2}$ which severely hinits the possibility of locating rotational structure due to $N_{2}O_{3}$ - However. the inforitior, obtained about the shape and location of the band should allow testing of models for the internal rotation/bending/end-over-end rotation dynarics of $N_{2} O_{3}$
