Abstract

The resonance Raman spectra of the rhodizonate anion ($C_{6}O_{6}{^{-2}}$ symmetry $D_{6h}$) in solution and of its salts in a KBr pellet are presented. It was found necessary to use a rotating cell to obtain the spectra of the solid phase. The intensity and the depolarization ratio are given as a function of the exciting wavelength for the $A_{1g}$ and $E_{2g}$ vibrational modes of the rhodizonate anion in solution. They are also presented and discussed in terms of the visible absorption spectrum of the molecule.
