Abstract

Infrared bands of acetylene have been studied employing a high resolution Littrow-type vacuum spectrograph utilizing a 30 grooves-per-mm grating and a Ge:Hg detector. A consistent working resolution of at least $0.04 cm^{-1}$ permitted the observation of the rotational structure of many ``hot'' bands in addition to the main transitions. Of special interest are the bands $\nu_{4}+\nu_{5} (\Sigma-\Sigma$ transitions) for $^{12}C_{2}H_{2}$ and $^{13}C_{2}H_{2}$. The rotational analyses and molecular constants determined will be presented for all the bands investigated.
